Cultivating an authentic Instagram aesthetic is a challenge for many influencers to execute flawlessly, but not San Fran native Jaime Xie.

If you take a trip to her page (@jaimexie), you'll find yourself on a visual vacation filled with the finer things life has to offer. With the trappings of designer labels, dreamy travel destinations, and lavish events, Jaime gives her 112k followers (and counting) an exclusive look into the life of a luxury fashion influencer.

Before Jaime made her splash in the fashion world, she was a competitive horseback rider. Turning in her riding boots for Louboutins, Jaime immersed herself in the culture of high fashion and decided to fully pursue her dream of making a mark within the industry.

From attending endless fashion shows, shooting in exotic locations all over the globe, and mingling at the hottest parties, Jaime Xie stays at the top of our It-girl radar and we have the scoop on just how she does it...

ROLLA: What makes a great Insta snap?

JAIME: A picture that doesn’t look too “posed” but captures the moment and everything you want in it (whether that means details of an outfit, a full look, or a cool background). Good lighting is also key.

R: What makes a bad Insta snap?

J: Bad lighting, bad angles, and random people/objects in the background.

R: What are your caption dos and dont’s?

J: Don’t use cheesy quotes. Do try to be clever and add a little humour; I prefer captions that are short and sweet rather than lengthy ones.

R: Social media can often be seen as damaging, especially young people and women, how do you deal with it?

J: Like anything, it can be damaging if you abuse it. So as long as you stay true to who you are, you’ll be fine.

R: How do you keep a healthy relationship with social media?

J: I make sure that I’m not on Instagram 24/7 and try to live in the moment especially when I’m with family and friends, traveling or visiting new places. It’s important to take time to look around and not just look at your phone.

R: What type of clothing grabs your attention the most?

J: I love a good statement piece! My favourite piece of clothing would have to be a cool jacket or blazer.

R: If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?

J: I would never ever consider wearing one outfit for the rest of my life so I can’t really imagine this!

R: If you could time travel to one era of fashion - what would it be?

J: I would say just flashback 10 years ago… Or to the 90s. I think the designers have all been killing it these past 10 years or so. But there were a few pieces and trends these recent seasons that I am not a fan of at all… Grungy streetwear and dad sneakers for example.

R: How do you put your outfits together?

J: I do have a trick but it’s a secret!

R: What would be your number one fashion faux-pas?

J: Hmm… Dad sneakers and poorly-fitting clothes.

R: What’s a fashion mistake you made in the past that you wish you could forget?

J: Wearing flats! I don’t have anything against flat shoes - sandals, sneakers, and mules are all fine. For me, you can wear a plain pump (like a Louboutin) but not a plain and boring pair of flats. Unless they’re a super cool, sleek and pointed pair, then that’s a different story.

R: When did you first consider yourself an influencer?

J: Last year when I decided to leave college to pursue this career.

R: What’s been your biggest accomplishment since becoming an influencer?

J: My biggest accomplishment would be attending the shows of so many of my favourite designers and brands these past Fashion Weeks. It was my first season this year and I’m so grateful that all these designers want me sitting at their shows.

R: What do you hope to achieve with your platform?

J: I hope to inspire others with my outfits and style!

R: What else are you hoping to achieve in 2019?

J: In 2019, I hope to continue to travel the world, work on more projects with the brands I love, and attend all the major events, fashion shows and fashion weeks!

R: Have you ever felt the need to “log off”?

J: Not yet…
