Ainsley Smart is leading a revolution within the music industry. A former child wunderkind who left her music label to forge her own path, she is determined to become the first fully independent female artist to get to number one. After taking the past few years to find herself musically, the twenty-six year old is now preparing to release new track "Blame Me" on November 12th, followed by her debut two-part album The Truth, through her independent label Pineapple Recordings.

Sitting down with Rollacoaster, Smart says, "Right now I’m a guinea pig for this venture capitalist model of a record label and I want to grow it and see where it goes. I want to trial what works and what doesn’t. I would love to bring on more artists and provide things that aren’t in the music industry at the moment like mental health support, stress relief and paid days off, and that’s where I see it going."

We spoke to Ainsley about how a childhood accident put her on the path to music, how she overcame corporate adversaries, and what led her to launch her own label.
