Offering us the “Hall Pass” we didn’t know we needed, Sophia Alexa graces our new music Friday playlists with swooning melodies and touching vocals that promise to invigorate our sad girl summer fantasies. Released alongside a cinematic visual that lenses Alexa in her cowboy boots enjoying time alone amidst breathtaking sceneries, the artist sets the stage for a true experience of escapism, with the gently strings of “Hall Pass” offering the ultimate backing soundtrack.
On the inspiration behind the soulful single, the singer-songwriter explains, “I wrote ‘Hall Pass’ because I wanted to capture the feeling of self-sabotage. I’ve always had this fear that when something is going too well I’m just waiting for it to fall apart. It’s almost a form of protection and being okay with someone leaving before you get hurt, which is why I loved the title hall pass, it’s giving someone an out.”
Spinning her own coping mechanisms into an authentic display of self-compassion, “Hall Pass” proves to be all the self-care you will need this weekend—available to stream below…
