Ian Harding Covers Rollacoaster Magazine's Autumn/Winter 2024 Issue

“I think I was very lucky with Pretty Little Liars in so many ways, because I got a nice pop off of it and clearly our relationship was beloved. And obviously that was its own gift: getting to hang out with you almost every day. I was lucky because I wasn’t really ever on the posters, I got to kind of have one foot in and one foot out. As a result, I got to cultivate this life on the side in the sense of what I thought was important. And that helped me after Pretty Little Liars was done. I remember I got out and then I immediately booked this pretty large pilot. It had big producers, an incredibly funny cast—and then it wasn’t picked up and I promptly didn’t work for nine months. You go through that whole thing of like, “Did I do something wrong or am I terrible in these auditions and meetings?” You start to feel the spotlight from the industry move away from you. But I needed to unlearn this sort of way of acting and being on a set and doing all that. And that takes time.”

’Tis the season for our cover star Ian Harding, and god knows we’ve been waiting for it. As he adjusts to life as an actor-turned-father and awaits the release of Lindsay Lohan’s hallmark,  Our Little Secret, he reunites with his Pretty Little Liars co-star Lucy Hale to discuss life post-PLL, his upcoming projects and where he finds his happiness: no secrets or lies left off the table.
